Abruzzo is
a very varied region which gives the tourist the
chance to rapidly move from the coast to Gran
Sasso and Maiella’s feet through the
inland that is rich in views, folklore, tradition
and history.
Over 1/3 of the Abruzzo surface is
protected by National Parks and by a close net of
reserves and natural oases. The Gran Sasso and
The Monti della Laga’s National Park
represents the wide green lung that is rich in
vegetables and animals.
Along with its mountains and the sea Abruzzo
offers a rich choice in terms of art and monuments,
Roman churches and castles, ancient necropolis and
museums, hermitages and fortified villages.
The four chief towns of province: L'Aquila,
Chieti, Pescara and Teramo
and several other towns that in ancient times used
to have a determining role, keep artistic and
historical treasures, archaeological ruins,
museums, cathedrals, castles, aqueducts, fountains
that witness a continuous activity on the sea, in
the fields and on the mountains.
Festivals and shows liven up Abruzzo hot
summers,
when amusement joins the old local traditions.
A close net of important dates, where there are a
lot of folk shows and performances that are
amusing and often bizarre for tourists.
Abruzzo cuisine is characterized by land genuine
products and by good wine; it also offers lovers
of fresh fish specialities authentic
deliciousnesses.
A tasty range of flavours of famous pastas,
zafferano and chees, salami and dairy products,
excellent meats, greedy and unique traditional
cakes that can be bought in the village shops.
